Insurance sales is a process of building relationships with your clients. AmeriLife wants to reinforce that the safety and well-being of our agents and clients, as well as the consumers we serve, is our highest priority during the coronavirus pandemic.

AmeriLife wants to remind agents about the company’s guidelines:

  • If you feel sick or show any signs of illness, stay at home!
  • If you feel sick or show any signs of illness, do not conduct face-to-face meetings with clients or co-workers
  • If you have come in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with coronavirus, you must self-quarantine for 14 days to ensure you haven’t been infected
    • During the 14-day quarantine, agents may not meet face-to-face with clients or go into an AmeriLife office
  • If you feel sick but well enough to conduct business, use the phone or consider telesales alternatives

Meeting with Clients

  • Consider conducting business over the phone or by teleconferencing or video conferencing when possible in support of social distancing best practices
  • If clients and agents are comfortable with a face-to-face meetings, practice safety precautions:
    • Keep a distance of six feet between the agent and the client(s)
    • Use hand sanitizer before and after the meeting
    • Wipe down pens, electronic devices and other items with disinfecting wipes before and after the meeting

Preventing Coronavirus Infections
Coronavirus spreads through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The droplets must enter through your mouth, nose or eyes for the infection to take hold.

The symptoms of coronavirus take from 2-14 days to appear after someone is exposed, and there is no current vaccine to prevent the disease.

The best way to prevent contracting coronavirus is to avoid being exposed to the virus.

 Protecting Yourself from Coronavirus

  • Clean your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
  • If soap and water are unavailable, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol; cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay at home if you’re sick, except to go for medical care (and even then, consider telemedicine alternatives if an option)
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or use the inside of your elbow if tissues are unavailable
  • Throw used tissues in the trash
  • Immediately wash your hands after coughing or sneezing
  • Wear a facemask if you are sick. If you are not sick, you do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone else is sick and they are unable to wear a mask.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks
  • If surfaces are dirty, clean them with detergent or soap and water prior to disinfecting
