Clearwater, Fla. – The nonprofit Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) has named AmeriLife its 2017 North Region Advocate of the Year, in recognition of the thriving partnership between AmeriLife and The Summit, a regional senior activities center with over 5,000 members age 50 and up.

Rick Herold, director of parks and recreation for the Grand Prairie, Texas, Parks, Arts and Recreation Department, nominated AmeriLife, which has offices in Dallas and Ft. Worth, at the suggestion of Susan Eaves, a city recreation programmer at The Summit, a 60,000 square foot facility opened in 2010 in Grand Prairie’s Central Park.

“I am thrilled TRAPS selected us for this honor,” said David Rainwater, AmeriLife divisional president for North Texas. “We enjoy the relationships we’ve established with Summit members and the Grand Prairie recreation staff, and look forward to partnering with them in the years to come.”

“The purpose of the Advocate of the Year Award is to recognize individuals, businesses or partners who significantly contribute to the parks and recreation field, which is why we chose AmeriLife as the 2017 recipient,” said Erin Hart, TRAPS North Region director.

AmeriLife has shown ongoing support of The Summit. AmeriLife has sponsored special events including the Annual Summit Games and Memorial Day dances for veterans. A team from AmeriLife also judged the Summit Games dance competitions, served refreshments at dances and socialized with the participants. In addition, the company has also donated door prizes for special events and Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department annual employee recognition luncheons.

AmeriLife agents are welcomed at The Summit to present informational sessions about the multiple Medicare insurance options available to seniors, because they do not try to push specific plans on members. This educational approach has built up goodwill and trust. So much so, AmeriLife plans to set up exhibits at upcoming TRAPS North Region and state conferences.
