Humane Society DayFood, Animal Essentials Provided for Humane Society

AmeriLife® associates donated food and other pet essentials to the Humane Society of Pinellas Thursday for a community outreach project called “Cause for the Paws.”

At the suggestion of Claims Examiner Melanie Dunn, AmeriLife Place associates brought pet food, cat litter, cleaning agents, bedding material (linens, blankets, towels) and even pet toys to donate to the rescue operation in Clearwater. Once gathered, including more than $350 in cash, the donations were trucked to the Humane Society on State Road 590.

“We are deeply grateful for the huge amount of donations,” said Tiffany Heier, the Humane Society’s Development and Marketing Associate. “Some of the food and litter has already been packaged to go out to home-bound seniors, and it’s all so very helpful to our pets here and in our community.”

Beyond being used to take care of the animals at the Humane Society, AmeriLife’s donations will be used for the Humane Society’s Community Food Pantry (for locals who need temporary assistance in providing food for their pets) and for its Senior Pet Connection, through which pet food and other items are delivered to home-bound seniors.

“These programs allow residents to keep – and keep safe – their pets,” Tiffany Heier said. “Some of these would be animals that otherwise may end up (at the Humane Society).”

The “Cause for Paws” project is yet another of AmeriLife’s series of corporate citizen, community outreach campaigns. “We’ve found ways, large and small, to make a difference in our community,” CEO Timothy O. North said. “Nothing’s quite as special as helping the helpless and the homeless animals in Clearwater.”
